Repost because there are too many people who don’t understand how to tip.
Tip 20% every time you go out, baseline. If you get shitty service, I give you permission to leave 17%, but only if the service was intentionally shitty. If you are out at the club or for drinks only, baseline is 30%. If you don’t like it, collect signatures and write a referendum to change the law. Until then, don’t punish your server.
^^^ hahah to that person thinking that i am gonna tip if my service is shitty
im not gonna pay you to fuck up my night and waste my cash on your shitty attitude
I tip when I can, but I don’t have a lot of money. If I go out and the experience was shitty (I.E: rude server, bad food, bad environment, dirty shit), they’re not getting a fucking tip. I don’t make that much, and when I decide to spend what little I have on something, it’s really upsetting when it gets thrown back in my face.
That said, I can’t always tip even 10%, but I always try to give what I have. If I paid 10 dollars for food and only have 1 dollar left, they get that one dollar. If I pay 20 dollars and have 10 dollars left, they get 5 to 10 dollars depending on service.
^^ fucking exactly.
I work hard for my money, they should too. Just because you are in a service industry, does NOT mean you automatically get a tip. It is a tip. For your service.
I work in a service industry and I don’t expect to be tipped too much, if ever, and what I am doing is a WAY more personal experience than waiting a table, I think. Maybe that’s just me.
