Okay, I will try to keep this short and to the point and if you would like more information you are more than welcome to inbox me.

My name is Cassie. I am 19 years old now but at 18, I was attending Portland State University. I had been planning on going there since 5th grade to study Criminal Justice. I was accepted at 17 with a declared major of Criminology and a minor in Sociology hoping to graduate and have a career doing Forensic Psychology and Forensic Psychotherapy, hopefully someday with a branch of the FBI.

I was a freshman away from home, no family in the area, first person to go to college in the family, taking 21 credits plus out of state tuition and the more expensive housing because I asked for a quiet floor. 

They failed to mention regardless of the orientations I went to, the number of people I asked and the variety of ways I asked, that it was $475 per credit on top of the other charges. This information was presented to me half way through my first term. So at the end of the term, when they would not readjust the 21,000 I had in financial aid to cover that one term and give me my transcripts, and after I could not receive a loan, I went back to California, got a job and have been making payments ever since, either by my own earned money or the kind donations others have made in my favor.

My balance is currently $9,659.55 and they charge approximately $100.00 per month in interest. I have been making the bare minimum of $100.00 to cover the interest and when I have the extra I have been saving to put it towards my balance. I worked very hard to get to college and this was never ever where I wanted to end up.

I have been trying to get a personal loan but I have not been able to get approved and the ones I can find have outrageous interest rates if you do get approved. I have no collateral to convince them to give me a loan either.

Here is where I am asking for help.

Today I received a letter saying my account is delinquent and they want the full balance within 30 days. I have to wait til Monday to get in contact with any of the Student Accounts because they are not available on the weekends. (How convenient.) I am still continuing to look for a personal loan but that isn’t working either. If anyone is experiencing a similar situation or knows some one or some place or anything that can help that would be wonderful. 

If anyone would like to make donations, I have a paypal account but I am unsure of how safe and secure the information would be for both parties involved and I do not want any of you to begin to think that your money would be misplaced or misused. If I could get 482 people to make $20 donations, I would be back in school, or 193 people making $50 donations I would be back in school. Anything helps, especially information and moral support and that’s what I’m asking for here. If you can afford the extra, I’m begging you but if you have advice, please help me. 

I have a million and one more stories to tell about how this school has used its loopholes, has played games and has blatantly lied to me and refused to work with me, and I am not the only one this has happened to so if you also want that information, you are more than welcome to ask as well.
