When people talk ad nauseum about how neurodivergent people are just divergent and society just needs to change to accommodate us and make it more viable for us.

Um, my fucking depression will not get better regardless of whatever fucking changes are made in society, thanks. It’s a biochemical issue, the only way to help me is to help balance those chemicals.

And so a blanket application of neurodivergence erases my needs when understanding and saying that neurodivergence is an umbrella term with a lot of different types of things in it would solve that goddamn problem.

Note too that varying types of neurodivergence also get hit with varying forms of oppression that often impact people differently. This too gets erased.
