Genderbitch Lite: Now With More Rambling!: I think I may have found viable cheap alternatives to stuff with gluten in it.

Cheap ass supermarket corn tortillas, big or small, can replace bread for mini pizzas, sandwiches and etc. Rice vermicelli is also really cheap if you know where to look and will pretty much cover all my pasta needs until I have a steady job and can afford to either make my own or get another…

Another thing to be concerned about is consuming a lot of potatoes if you are still taking spiro. Spiro is a potassium sparing diuretic with a weak diuretic action at the nephrons of the kidneys. So in theory depending on potatoes as a primary starch could result in high levels of potassium in the blood (the technical name of which escapes me)
That being said when I brought up my concerns with my doctor (I love avocado, prunes, bananas, and a whole host of foods high in K) he advised me to just make sure to keep well hydrated.

Yeah I’ve talked to some doctors (including my own) and done some research and the thing about potassium sparing diuretics is that it isn’t so much that they elevate potassium levels and more that potassium is one of the bodily metals they don’t deplete.

So we eat like anyone else. What it means for us is that we don’t need to eat extra potassium to make up for what spiro does. Other metals and salts need to be eaten in higher amounts tho.
